The 2005 Education Research Methods (ERM) course, sponsored by the Education Research and Development of Academic Informatics Services, presents the second workshop in the series, “Getting Started with Educational Research: Problems,
Questions & Design.”
The workshop, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23 in Room 4.484T in the Dental School, helps participants 'get started' with educational research by reviewing three types of scholarship and associated types of publications.
The course, presented by Bill Hendricson, director of the division of educational research and development, associate editor of the Journal of Dental Education, will discuss three critical start-up steps for research planning and practice the What Would Happen If? (WHIF) model for generating research questions. Participants will also learn to analyze weaknesses in educational research commonly identified by journal editors, discuss Glassick's criterion for best practices in educational research and answer the question: “What should I do if I want to annoy manuscript reviewers?”
The registration deadline for the course is Feb. 18. For questions about ERM call Dr. David Henzi at (210) 567-2290 or e-mail henzi@uthscsa.edu. To register for the course click on the link:
