Dr. James Elliott elected to AAALAC

Congratulations to James J. Elliott, D.V.M., associate director of laboratory animal resources, on his election to the Council on Accreditation of the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC).

Elliott joined the Health Science Center in 2000 and became associate director of laboratory animal resources in 2003. His term on the Council on Accreditation will begin July 1.

AAALAC's Council on Accreditation is composed of some of the best animal care and use professionals and researchers from around the globe. They conduct the site visits and program evaluations that determine which institutions are awarded AAALAC accreditation. The Council includes North American and European sections that evaluate programs in their respective regions.



Dr. John King named president elect of AAP

John C. King, M.D., professor in the department of rehabilitation medicine, was named president-elect of the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP), a national organization of academic physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Among the objectives of the AAP, it promotes the distribution of information to future young physicians who will be practicing art and science for the benefit of the public health and welfare. It is a member organization of the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Dr. King joined the Health Science Center in 1989.
