Health Science Center faculty, staff, residents and students attended a farewell reception April 26 for Joseph Naples, M.D., professor and chairman of the department of anesthesiology. Dr. Naples is leaving the Health Science Center for a position as chairman of anesthesiology at The Methodist Hospital in Houston.
The Fiesta-themed reception was held in the University Hospital Foundation Room and mariachis serenaded guests while they feasted on fajitas, King Ranch chicken and flan. Dr. Naples' 15-years of service were commemorated with a granite paver in the Alumni Association's Ring of Honor, which was donated by department faculty and staff.

Christopher Bracken, M.D., Ph.D., deputy chair of clinical affairs in the department of anesthesiology, has been appointed to succeed Dr. Naples as interim chair of the department of anesthesiology.
