The Health Science Center honored Pfizer on May 23 for its long-term support of the annual Mini-Medical School. Pfizer donated $15,000 this year and has similarly supported the event for the past six years.
“The Mini-Medical School is a gift from the Health Science Center to the community and is made possible in part by Pfizer’s generosity,” said Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., president of the Health Science Center. “Because of Pfizer’s partnership, we are able to provide educational sessions for the public – a window, if you will, into health topics that are relevant for all of us.”
Maurice Rozek, M.D., adjunct clinical associate professor in the Medical School, joined Pfizer four years ago and attended the ceremony on behalf of Pfizer as Martha Medrano, M.D., M.P.H., director of the Medical Hispanic Center of Excellence and assistant dean of continuing medical education, and Donald J. Dudley, M.D., professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology, expressed the Health Science Center’s appreciation of the support.
Pfizer is dedicated to discovering and developing innovative medicines and making them available to people around the world, while committing itself to the community to improve the quality of life.
The Mini-Medical School began in 1996. Since then it has become an annual event.
