The 2005 Education Research Methods (ERM) course, sponsored by the Education Research and Development of Academic Informatics Services, presents “Focus Groups,” the sixth workshop in the series.
The workshop, from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 22 in Room 4.484T in the Dental School, will include a presentation that will introduce focus groups as a viable qualitative research tool that can yield rich information not captured by quantitative methods. Topics to be covered include: 1) when to use a focus group; 2) advantages and disadvantages of using focus groups; 3) how to prepare for conducting a focus group; 4) tips for conducting successful focus groups; and 5) how to collect, analyze and report focus group data.
The course will be presented by Debra Stark, Ph.D., evaluation specialist, and David Henzi, Ed.D., education development specialist.
