Congratulations to Gilbert Sosa, director of the office of educational media resources, for earning recognition from the International Publishing Management Association (IPMA). He was granted lifetime Certified Graphics Communications Manager (CGCM) certification, the highest honor of professional achievement available for in-house print/mail managers.

CGCM certification is not easily acquired. Sosa qualified after completing a minimum of five years of in-plant graphic experience and a six-hour written examination covering seven areas of in-plant management. His high-moral character and professional attitude contributed significantly in receiving this recognition. The honor is known to be neither easily earned nor maintained.
Sosa joined the Health Science Center in 1974 as a duplicating equipment operator II and has significantly contributed to the advancement of the department of educational media resources.
CGCM certification was established to create a professional standard of proficiency for the in-house graphic arts and printing management profession. It is designed to encourage professional growth, advance the stature of graphic communications managers, emphasize knowledge and expertise required in this field, and identify professional, competent managers.
