At the executive committee meeting of the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI), the Academy’s president appointed Ramon J. Baez, D.D.S., professor of general dentistry, as regent for the United States – South Central Regency. His appointment begins immediately and will last until 2007.
A regent of the ADI assists in overseeing and promoting the goals and mission of the Academy. Regents, in conjunction with the executive committee, are the highest officers of the Academy.
“Through my professional career I have had extensive interaction with colleagues from various regions of the world and feel honored that such efforts are being recognized by a professional organization that enjoys worldwide reputation,” Dr. Baez said.
The ADI is the international honor society for dentists dedicated to sharing knowledge through continuing dental education to elevate the standard of dental care, better serve the dental health needs and improve the quality of life throughout the world.
Dr. Baez joined the ADI in 2001 and has served as chairman of the International Services Committee and as vice-regent. His ability to fulfill the Academy's expectations for such responsibilities and its trust in his professional and personal abilities played a major role in earning this prestigious position.
The ADI selected Dr. Baez as the International Dentist of the Year in 2001, the highest award granted by the Academy which is presented to the dentist who best exemplifies international leadership. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Academy and serves as director of the Dental School Office of Multicultural Affairs, which includes the World Health Organization Collaborating Center and the Dental Hispanic Center of Excellence.
