The division of educational research and development of the academic informatics services department is now accepting registrations for the 28th annual
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
Teaching
Excellence
Course (UTEC). This 28-hour professional development program is a tradition at the Health Science Center – about 1,000 faculty, fellows and residents have completed UTEC since 1976. The 2005 UTEC will be conducted Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. from Aug. 25 to Nov. 17.
UTEC is conducted in workshop format to allow participants hands-on practice with key teacher tasks such as evaluating students, writing tests, teaching effectively in the classroom, planning courses, teaching psychomotor skills, providing feedback, intervening with students who are difficult and web-based learning. Participants also explore cognitive theories and research, review educational best practices and complete teaching self-assessment exercises.
UTEC is open to Health Science Center faculty, fellows, residents and staff with teaching responsibilities.
There is no registration fee.
