The academic informatics services department will hold a six-week course designed to provide health professions educators with a system for managing the performance and development of learners.

The GO FAR (Goal setting, Observation, Feedback, Appraisal, Reinforcement and Coaching) course will demonstrate that performance management is much more than just performance appraisal. Specific guidelines will address tailoring the performance management process to the specific development needs of the individual learner or team. Topics covered will be focused around the GO FAR process of performance management.

The GO FAR course will be conducted Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning July 19, and continuing weekly through Aug. 23. Jennifer Peel, Ph.D., director of education in the office of graduate medical education, and David Henzi, Ed.D., educational development specialist in the division of educational research and development (ERD), will be instructors of the course.
