Dedicated employees are an asset to the Health Science Center and to recognize these outstanding individuals, the department of facilities management selects their most valuable employees throughout the year to be recognized as the Employee of the Quarter.
Two exceptional individuals were chosen for this quarter: Jennifer Wood, senior buyer, and Daphne Ball, building attendant leader.
Jennifer Wood“Jennifer’s performance has been exceptional in every respect,” said Gary Tate, assistant director for business services. “She shows excellent leadership in planning, organizing and directing the operations of the purchasing group within facilities management.”
In the last 12 months, her group has purchased more than six million dollars worth of contracts, supplies and materials and processed over 3,500 requisitions. Many of these purchases were highly complex, requiring detailed specifications, extensive bid reviews, accelerated delivery times and strict adherence to purchasing standards and state law. Wood shows an exceptional talent for working closely with the many diverse groups within facilities management. She ensures that their needs are met in a timely manner, while ensuring that purchasing standards and rules are followed. She has also been very successful in increasing the amount of purchases made through Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) without negatively affecting the organization.
“Jennifer is an outstanding employee and highly deserves to be selected as one of our Employees of the Quarter,” Tate said.
Daphne BallBall joined the facilities management team in April 1995. She started her career as a building attendant I and has recently been promoted to a building attendant leader.
“Daphne is an excellent service provider with outstanding customer service skills, and these qualities are consistently demonstrated by her,” Tate said.
Ball is described as a loyal, dependable, dedicated and highly-motivated individual, as well as an organized leader who possesses outstanding job skills and takes pride in her work. Her devotion and commitment to all tasks assigned are unconditional.
“We are confident that Daphne will continue to impress us with her contributions to this division and her personal achievements,” Tate said. “She is a true asset to this department and we are proud to have her on our team.”
Each of these individuals receives a certificate of appreciation and a plaque describing their excellence. Wood and Ball will also be added to the Facilities Management Wall of Fame – a wall that recognizes all Employees of the Quarter for the past 13 years.
