Congratulations to Catherine Hornsby, administrative assistant to the chair, for receiving the surgery department’s July Employee of the Month Award. Reliable, friendly and helpful, Hornsby is always willing to go the extra mile.

“Catherine has a tremendous work ethic,” an individual who nominated her said. “She truly cares about this department and takes pride in making it look good. She not only serves to support the chairman’s office, she also provides excellent support to the education and research offices.”

As the recipient of this award, Hornsby will receive a $100 Simon Gift Card that can be used anywhere VISA is accepted, and she will be recognized at the Surgery Administration Meeting at Oak Hills Country Club. Winners of the Employee of the Month Award for the academic year are also eligible for the Employee of the Year Award, which includes a vacation at an exquisite resort.

Hornsby has been described as a true class act, the epitome of professionalism and someone who can always be counted on when extra help is needed.

While Hornsby was the recipient of the award, five other outstanding individuals were nominated, as well:
