The Health Science Center’s annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) will kick off Aug. 29 and run through Sept. 30. Each year, the Health Science Center, in coordination with United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, sponsors this campaign to benefit our community.

“The Health Science Center has an excellent tradition of being responsive to and supportive of the community,” says Dr. Robin S. Froman, dean of the Nursing School and the Health Science Center’s 2005 SECC chair. “As health care providers, we are sensitive to the community needs and the power of the community to support health. This year we want to focus on active participation. We’re stressing achievement of the goal of maximum participation by as many members of the Health Science Center community as possible. This year we are putting particular focus on the act of giving, not the amount of the contribution.”

Online pledging will be available this year. Complete instructions about the process, in addition to the manual contribution process, will be available through each SECC department coordinator.

The Special Events Council will host the annual Acadiana Luncheon fundraiser September 23, 2005. Please see your department’s SECC coordinator for tickets.

Departmental bake sales, taco sales, etc., benefiting the SECC campaign are also welcome throughout this year’s campaign.
