Register now to participate in Video Conference Certification workshopThe opportunity to learn more about the evolving technology that has made distance education more prevalent in health care education is now available to Health Science Center faculty and staff. The 2005 Video Conference Certification (VCC) workshop will familiarize individuals with equipment, requirements and best practices for video conferencing.
The workshop will be offered by the education research and development division of academic informatics services Sept. 20 and 27, and video conference presentations will take place Oct. 3-5. After completion of the VCC session, participants will be able to:
Understand the equipment used to facilitate successful video conferencing
Identify requirements by Distributed Learning to schedule a video conference presentation
Describe the planning and implementation process for a successful video conference
Recognize and articulate effective practices and teaching strategies exhibited in three sample video conferences
Implement best practice principles and teaching strategies in a 10-minute practice lecture

Ninth ERM workshop is Sept. 28 The 2005 Education Research Methods (ERM) course, sponsored by the education research and development division of academic informatics services, presents Data Analysis in Qualitative Research, the ninth workshop in the series.
The workshop will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sept. 28, in Room 4.484T in the Dental School. This session will review common approaches to the analysis of qualitative research data, including data organization, synthesis, discovery and presentation. Juanita Wallace, Ph.D., chair of dental hygiene, will discuss her experience with the analysis of interview and observational data utilizing NUDIST software.
