Stephen Millspaugh, director of purchasing, has been named president of The University of Texas System Purchasing Council (UTPC) a system-wide council comprised of chief procurement officers from all institutions and designated representatives from the U.T. System administrative offices.
We wish to congratulate Mr. Millspaugh and thank him for being such a great leader, Rebecca Mendez, office manager, said on behalf of the purchasing department. He provides good representation of the Health Science Center, as well as our purchasing department.
The UTPC was organized in 1989 as a means to share ideas, experiences, and superior practices and techniques in procurement throughout the U.T. System. It serves as an advisory body for procurement matters of the U.T. System and the leadership consists of two co-chairs one from an academic component and the other from a health component from each institution. The co-chairs typically serve two-year terms.
Millspaugh joined the Health Science Center in 2001 as the director of purchasing.
The purchasing department is charged with the responsibility to acquire all goods and services to ensure that the academic needs, research, patient care and public services goals are met on a non-interrupted basis.
Congratulations to Stephen Millspaugh.
