2005 HUB Vendor Fair assists women and minority business ownersThe Health Science Center is sponsoring the 2005 HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) Vendor Fair, where representatives from more than 35 HUB businesses will be able to display their products and answer questions.
The fair is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium. As a sponsor of the HUB Vendor Fair, the Health Science Center affords minority and women business owners the opportunity to exhibit their products and services, while allowing the Health Science Center community to become acquainted with the vendors.
A HUB is a corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership or joint venture formed for the purpose of making a profit in which at least 51 percent ownership of the business is by a woman and/or ethnic minority.

Condolences to the family and friends of
William (Bill) J. Bauer, an employee in the department of general services, who passed away last week. Bauer worked for the Health Science Center for almost 20 years and will be missed by all.
Elizabeth M. Wilkes, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, C.E.D., coordinator of the deaf education and hearing science master’s program and assistant professor in the School of Allied Health Sciences, passed away Saturday at the age of 52. She was a nationally recognized lecturer and workshop leader, with work published and cited in professional journals. Dr. Wilkes also created two significant language and speech tools to help professionals working with the hearing impaired. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.
The family will receive friends at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The service will begin at 7 p.m. at the Porter Loring North Chapel.
