The Health Science Center’s student-run free clinic program invites the community to enjoy great music from singer-songwriter Sara Hickman. The proceeds will be donated to the free clinic at the SAMM (San Antonio Metropolitan Ministry, Inc.) Transitional Living and Learning Center (TLLC). The event will take place Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Walden Coffee House, 7150 IH-10 West.

Each Wednesday evening, Health Science Center medical students, residents and faculty gather at the SAMM TLLC to provide a free clinic that is available to the 40 homeless families living in the center. Fundraisers help the Health Science Center provide needed services to these families that are working hard to transition from homelessness to a new life in our community. Without this free clinic, the residents at SAMM TLLC have limited access to health care.

The student-run free clinic program is a collaborative effort of medical students, residents, and faculty from the Health Science Center in partnership with several community partners, including SAMMinistries and Alpha Home.

Medical students and residents gain vital experience in primary care medicine, public health, community service and administration of health care, and the clinic serves as a unique educational setting.
