The Health Science Center community will have the opportunity to view some of our institution’s state-of-the-art medical education projects and visit with faculty who are developing these tools Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Rooms 108-118 in the Academic and Administration Building.
Six projects will be displayed as part of the “Unveiling of Advancements in Virtual Medical Education,” a presentation of SBC Foundation grant-funded technology products. These tools enhance teaching and learning in health professions education.
• Gerald Dodd III, M.D., professor and Stewart R. Reuter Distinguished Chair of the radiology department, will demonstrate
Teaching Medical Students to Use Portable Ultrasound.
• Thomas King, Ph.D., associate professor of cellular and structural biology, and Frank Weaker, Ph.D., associate professor of cellular and structural biology, will demonstrate
Virtual Microscopy for the Health Professional.
• Ernest Valdez, D.D.S., assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, will demonstrate
Computer Simulations of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office.
• Mary Moore, Ph.D., director of libraries, will demonstrate
Healthy Texas/Go Local Gateway.
• Pat Brewer, Ph.D., assistant professor and deputy chair of physical therapy, will demonstrate
GATEways (Gross Anatomy Teaching Enhancement).
• Mike Freckleton, M.D., associate professor of radiology, will demonstrate
Virtual Anatomy Project.
