Campus Updates Theresa Chiang, Ed.D., vice president for academic administration, provided the Senate with an update on activities that will concern her office and the Health Science Center during this academic year. Much of her presentation involved preparations for the upcoming SACS accreditation review and institutional strategic planning efforts overseen by her office.
Report: Impact on Employee Benefits of the 79th LegislatureBrett Morris, assistant vice president for human resources, provided the Senate with an update on issues concerning employee benefits, including the effects of recent state legislation.
Senate BusinessDeborah Baruch-Bienen, M.D., assistant professor of medicine, was elected as new chair-elect of the Faculty Senate by a unanimous vote of all senators present. Margaret Brackley, Ph.D., chair of the Faculty Senate, lead a discussion concerned with the goals to be considered by the Faculty Senate during the 2005-2006 academic year. She charged the Senate’s committees with considering topics of interest forwarded from the Senate Executive Committee, as well as to identify additional issues which need their attention.
The next meeting of the Faculty Senate will be held on October 12, 2005.
