James Battles, Ph.D., an international leader in patient safety, will present the department of family and community medicine’s South Texas Regional Grand Rounds on Friday, Nov. 18 at 12:30 p.m. in Room 309L. The title of Dr. Battles’ presentation is "A Patient's Safety and Family Medicine's Challenges and Opportunities."
Dr. Battles is a senior service fellow for patient safety in the Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (CQuLPS) at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The CQuIPS improves the quality and safety of all Americans through strategic partnerships. Specifically, CQuIPS:
1. Conducts and supports user-driven research on patient safety and health care quality measurement, reporting and improvement.
2. Develops and disseminates reports and information on health care quality measurement, reporting and improvement.
3. Collaborates with stakeholders across the health care system to implement evidence-based practices, accelerating and amplifying improvements in quality and safety for patients.
4. Assesses our own practices to ensure continuous learning and improvement for the Center and its members.
