Round up some frozen turkeys! The AmeriCorps members serving the Texas Medical Rangers program at the Health Science Center are hosting a “Frozen Turkey Round-up” to support fellow San Antonians by providing them with a turkey for their holiday season.
The AmeriCorps members will collect the frozen turkeys at the Health Science Center Central Campus track Friday, Nov. 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. They’ll later deliver them to the San Antonio Food Bank, which will prepare packages for delivery. Each turkey will be donated to a needy San Antonio family, which will give them the opportunity to enjoy the holiday season, as well.
“The San Antonio Food Bank will host its Third Annual Turkey Round-up on Nov. 19,” said Sarita Sanders, AmeriCorps member serving at the Health Science Center. “We want to make it convenient for our employees to donate; so, we’re collecting turkeys here and delivering them to the Food Bank.”
AmeriCorps is a network of local, state and national service programs that connects more than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health and the environment.
