The 20th annual Primary Care Research Methods and Statistics Conference will be held Dec 2-4, at the Menger Hotel. Sponsored by the Health Science Center’s department of family and community medicine, the conference theme is “Patient Safety and Medical Errors: Research Challenges.”
A key feature of this year’s conference will be a distinguished panel discussion on “The Future of Primary Care Research.” Discussants include Carolyn M. Clancy, M.D., director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; Richard Wasserman, M.D., director of Pediatric Research in the Office Setting (PROS); and Kurt C. Stange, M.D., Ph.D., editor of the
Annals of Family Medicine.
Several tracks will be offered as a part of this year’s theme. The tracks include basic quantitative research methods for primary care researchers, statistics and qualitative methods.
Plenary speakers include Eric J. Thomas, M.D., M.P.H., of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, who will speak about "Measuring Errors and Adverse Events in Health Care," and Anton J. Kuzel, M.D., M.H.P.E., of Virginia Commonwealth University, whose speech is titled “Making the Case for a Qualitative Study of Medical Errors in Primary Care.”
