Twenty-three outstanding faculty and staff members have completed the 2005 University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Teaching Excellence Course (UTEC).
The participants gained experience in evaluating student performance, planning courses and writing lesson plans, teaching psychomotor skills, presenting lectures, creating PowerPoint presentations, working with challenging students, providing feedback, developing Web-based courses and using small group case-based learning methods. In addition, they were introduced to cognitive research pertinent to the health professions education and analyzed their own teaching strategies.
The division of educational research and development of the academic informatics services department is proud to announce the graduates of the 29th annual UTEC. The 26-hour professional development program is a tradition at the Health Science Center – nearly 1,000 faculty, fellows and residents have completed UTEC since 1976.
