ERM course offered to HSC employeesSponsored by education research and development (ERD) in the department of Academic Informatics Services, weekly workshops will help participants work through some of the obstacles that are encountered when conducting educational research. Participants who are interested in educational research will have an opportunity to take part in a research project during the ERM Course. They’ll also have the opportunity to choose from five educational research projects currently in development and work in groups to assess the effectiveness of these research projects. For those that are interested in developing an independent research project following the course, assistance from the division of educational research and development will be available.
In order to guarantee that interested participants received the necessary assistance during the research project, only 30 individuals will be able to register for the independent research project component of the ERM course.

S.A. Neuroscience Alliance’s first lecture is this FridayThe San Antonio Neuroscience Alliance (SANA), a collaborative interdisciplinary neuroscience initiative for doctoral students studying in neuroscience or related fields at the Health Science Center and UTSA, will present its initial lecture at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in lecture hall 3.104A at the Health Science Center Central Campus.
The invited guest speaker is John H.R. Maunsell, Ph.D., professor of neuroscience and ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. He will discuss “Effects of Attention on Sensory Signals in the Monkey’s Visual Cerebral Cortex.”
All faculty, research staff and students are invited. The SANA program is expected to enhance the value of the doctoral education experience by facilitating the opportunity to enroll in complementary neuroscience-related courses at both institutions, supporting faculty who will serve as co-mentors and facilitate the process to increase student participation.
Holiday Cards offered by HSC Reach Out and Read program Holiday cards featuring children’s unique artwork are now on sale through the Health Science Center’s Reach Out and Read programs. A box of 20 cards is $10 and you can choose from 10 different designs. Proceeds from the card sales will be used to purchase books for the Reach Out and Read programs at the Health Science Center and there are no shipping costs for Health Science Center employees.
