Congratulations to Robert J. Cronin, Jr., D.D.S., M.S., professor and director of postdoctoral prosthodontics. He was named the Educator of the Year by the American College of Prosthodontics (ACP). This is the second consecutive year that a professor at the Health Science Center has received this prestigious award. Lily Garcia, D.D.S., M.S., professor and chair of the department of prosthodontics, was last year’s recipient.
The Educator of the Year Award is presented to one educator for their outstanding contributions to the welfare and advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, their achievements in academic dentistry and their contributions to the science and health professions.
Dr. Cronin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics and currently serves as the president of the International Academy of Gnathology. He has authored 45 articles and abstracts in refereed journals and presented over 160 invited lectures on prosthodontic and dental implant topics. He served as the editor of the Clinical Research Section of the Journal of Prosthodontics and has served on the Editorial Review Boards of three national dental journals. Dr. Cronin is also a former president of the American Board of Prosthodontics.
The ACP is a non-profit educational and scientific organization created to represent the needs and interests of prosthodontists within organized dentistry, and to the public by providing a means for stimulating awareness and interest in the field of prosthodontics. It is the goal of the ACP to be the global resource for all aspects of the specialty.
