The department of family and community medicine is pleased welcome the distinguished senior associate provost for academic affairs at Saint Louis University, who will present information about elderly with dementia. It will take place Friday, Jan. 13, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Room 309L as a part of the department’s weekly Grand Rounds series.
President of the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work at Saint Louis University and Professor in the School of Social Work, Marla Berg-Weger, Ph.D., L.C.S.W., will apply her more than two decades of knowledge of the social work field when she presents “Driving and Dementia in Older Adults."
More than four million people in the United States are afflicted with dementia, Alzheimer's disease being the most common form. Deciding when to limit or stop driving can be a confusing issue for individuals diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers, according to The Hartford’s Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Driving Web site.
Dr. Berg-Weger’s hour-long presentation will be both educational and intriguing. It carries one hour of Continuing Medical Education credit and will also be available for viewing on the department of family and community medicine’s Web site.
