Attention faculty members! Interested in applying for promotion and tenure? Because the promotion and tenure process can be a bit overwhelming at times, a coalition of faculty organizations and the office of the vice president for academic administration will host its second workshop this year designed to support and guide junior faculty members through the process. The previous workshop was held Jan. 20.

Health Science Center senior faculty members will lead small-group, round-table discussions that will focus on the different areas of emphasis considered by the Faculty Promotions, Tenure and Appointments Committee (PTAC).

Presentations by Theresa Chiang, Ed.D., vice president for academic administration; Jan Patterson, M.D., professor and vice chair of infectious diseases; and Lee McAlister-Henn, Ph.D., professor and deputy chair of biochemistry, will provide updates on the promotion and tenure process. Drs. Patterson and McAlister-Henn are chair and past chair, respectively, of the PTAC. Their additional insights will be beneficial to tenure track faculty members.

The workshop will address issues important to faculty members on the tenure track and will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. in the School of Nursing auditorium.

Desserts and drinks will be provided but attendees are invited to bring lunch.

For more information, contact Connie Hamilton Morris, assistant to the vice president for academic administration: (210) 567-2004.

Organizations supporting these workshops include:

Committee for the Advancement of Women and Minorities
Hispanic Center of Excellence
Hispanic Faculty Association
National Center of Excellence in Women's Health
UTHSCSA Faculty Promotions, Tenure and Appointments Committee
