Employees joined President Francisco G. Cigarroa in the auditorium foyer last week to celebrate January birthdays and to honor several employees for their extensive years of service to The University of Texas System.
Vick Franklin Williams, Ph.D., M.D., professor of cellular and structural biology, became the Health Science Center’s first employee to ever receive the award for 45 years of service to the UT System.

Dr. Cigarroa praised Dr. Williams for his continuous dedication to the system as he presented him with an exclusive crystal trophy personalized for Dr. Williams.
Dr. Williams began his career with the UT System in 1965 at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, shortly after he received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. In 1970, he joined the Health Science Center and since then he has served the Medical and Dental Schools.
Dr. Williams said he feels honored to be recognized for his years of service to the UT System.
