It is a rare occasion that you’ll find Carmen Jimenez, community education assistant at the South Texas Poison Center (STPC), not working. In fact, she often even gives up her weekends and holidays to attend health fairs to provide quality education for the community. Her colleagues in the department of surgery value her so much that they selected her as the February Employee of the Month.
Carmen has worked at the STPC for eight years and has superior knowledge and experience in the implementation of education programs for people of all ages. Fluent in both English and Spanish, her communication skills appeal to a variety of audiences.
“Carmen is very dedicated to her job,” one colleague said. “She comes in early, works through her lunch hour and usually leaves late. She is always at work with a smile and always ready to help anyone who needs her.”
Carmen is known for maintaining a professional and positive attitude toward her duties and co-workers. Colleagues say she is the first person to volunteer for anything, and her professional and personal support at the STPC serve as a role model for everyone.
Carmen was recognized with a $100 Simon Gift Card that can be used anywhere VISA is accepted. She will also be eligible to receive the Employee of the Year Award – a Royal Caribbean Cruise.
