Internationally-recognized experts, postdoctoral fellows and students from around the state will convene to discuss cutting-edge advances in our understanding of development of viral, bacterial and parasitic diseases, as well as optimal approaches to controlling them. “Bugs, Drugs and Vaccines: Securing Our Future” is sponsored by The University of Texas System and the Texas Academy of Medicine, and will take place April 5-6 at the Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston.
The symposium will focus on three sessions:
• new routes to pathogen (what causes the disease) discovery
• new concepts of antimicrobial
• antiviral drug therapy and new approaches to vaccine development
• immunization
Each session will feature a keynote speaker and four top presenters. Poster sessions will provide opportunities for enhancing networking among scientists and feature some of the latest research in these topics.
