What exactly is the Health Science Center’s office of technology ventures? H. Randall Goldsmith, Ph.D., assistant vice president for technology transfer and economic development, will provide a complete explanation of this vital department when he presents “Moving Inventions to Market: An Overview of the Office of Technology Ventures” at the next Town Hall meeting. The meeting is the third in a series of discussions initiated by the office of the vice president for research.

“Our office wants the campus to know what services we offer and how these services can benefit individuals,” Dr. Goldsmith said.

Some key points of the discussion include:

1. The office of technology ventures’ responsibilities
2. Disclosure of federally-funded discoveries
3. Several new companies have been created with the help of the office of technology ventures
4. The office has helped researchers and departments received more than $8 million in revenue distributions

To learn more about the department and its purpose, don’t miss the next Town Hall meeting April 5 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 3.102B.

The Town Hall meetings are designed to provide discussion about issues pertaining to the research enterprise of the Health Science Center.
