Bracken Kolle, M.D., second-year anesthesiology resident, won regional first prize for his essay, “The Healing of Information” in the Elsevier Publishing Company’s “Medical Information Can…” essay contest.
“This is a notable achievement, and we are very proud of Bracken,” said Christopher A. Bracken, M.D., Ph.D., interim chair of the department of anesthesiology. “With the busy clinical schedule our residents carry, it takes extraordinary effort to prepare scholarly work for competition. He is a great example to his fellow residents and the medical students taking anesthesiology clerkships.”
Essays are judged by a distinguished national panel of nine physicians from across the country, and judgment is based on originality, vision, clarity, organization of thought and development of idea. Regional prizes include $1,500 cash, $1,000 in books published by Elsevier and a one-year subscription to the journal,
The Lancet, and Internet reference service, “First Consult.”
