The University of Texas Longhorns won the national championship this year on the gridiron, and now they’re trying for another title – capturing the prize at the seventh annual Brain Bowl at the UT Health Science Center.
Tonight at 7 p.m. in Room 209L of the Medical School building, you can be a part of the audience witnessing the excitement of the seventh Brain Bowl, an event that tests the brains and wits of even the most outstanding biology, chemistry and psychology students from the three competing schools. UT Austin is entered for the first time, and will face off with UT San Antonio and the defending champions from Baylor University.
The Brain Bowl is the “Jeopardy!” of the neurosciences, and it’s held once a year at the Health Science Center. The Center for Biological Neuroscience (CBN) (
www.uthscsa.edu/cbn/) is the event sponsor.
The CBN’s primary mission is to enhance neuroscience at the Health Science Center by bringing together research and teaching activities related to the discipline.
Neuroscience is the science of the nervous system. It includes diverse areas such as neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology and neuropsychology. Brain Bowl questions address each of these areas. Neuroscientists work to understand the structure and function of the brain in health and disease.
