Thirty-eight Rio Grande Valley physicians are proud graduates of the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC)’s first Master Teaching Certification (MTC) course.
The 12-week course is designed to increase an understanding of teaching concepts and adult learning. It was developed in response to evaluations of previous faculty development workshops and retreats, and to support the educational efforts of the many community physicians who comprise the RAHC faculty.
The MTC course, modeled after the UTHSCSA Teaching Excellence Course (UTEC) conducted in San Antonio and the Master Teacher Course conducted for clinical faculty at the Texas A&M Medical School, was a joint effort between the division of educational research and development and the RAHC.
This is the largest class to ever graduate from an MTC. And, this class was largely comprised of volunteer community faculty.
