The Graduate Student Association (GSA) invites you to attend the 2006 Annual Research Forum Wednesday, April 19 in the central campus auditorium. The event is organized for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to present their research and meet renowned scientists from reputable institutions. It will also provide an opportunity for researchers to network and be exposed to ongoing research activities at the Health Science Center.
A school-wide poster competition will be held during the morning session, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and during the afternoon session, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The afternoon session will be followed by a keynote address given by the esteemed Francis Ali-Osman, D.Sc., at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
Dr. Ali-Osman is a noted professor of pathology in the department of neurosurgery at Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center in Durham, N.C., with a research interest in understanding the biology of brain tumors. He has authored more than 95 primary research articles and 15 chapters, written or edited five books, and has co-authored four patents.
“We look forward to the Health Science Center community’s participation in this exciting interdisciplinary event,” the GSA officers said.
All are welcome to attend a wine and cheese reception that will follow the keynote lecture.
The forum will concluded with cash prizes donated by the graduate dean’s office, which will be awarded to the top three poster winners. Vendors are also invited to showcase products, offering a chance for individuals to meet representatives from different companies. The vendor show will also be held in the central campus auditorium during the poster displays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
GSA officers include Rajkumar Sevak, president of the association; Dania Rossi, treasurer; and Jennifer Stewart, secretary.
