sprucej@uthscsa.edu The Health Science Center will celebrate its most recent addition to the South Texas/Border Region during the grand opening of the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) Medical Research Division in Edinburg, Texas. The event will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, at the courtyard of the new building, which is located adjacent to The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA).
Hundreds of dignitaries, health care professionals and other guests will celebrate the official dedication of the new facility. Among the guests will be Chairman of The UT System Board of Regents James Huffines, UT System Regent Colleen McHugh and the UT System Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Kenneth Shine, M.D. The public is encouraged to attend, as well.
The Medical Research Division of the RAHC is the first biomedical research facility of its kind on the U.S.-Mexico border, enabling research faculty members to conduct high level research and mentor students from area universities. The new facility, which provides more opportunities to study diseases specific to the Border Region, is the second of the Health Science Center’s RAHC buildings. The first was the Medical Education Division in Harlingen.
A luncheon reception will follow the dedication. If you plan to attend the ceremony, please R.S.V.P.:
