Go Spurs go! Spurs fans everywhere are geared up, hoping for a series of wins that will help to defend our title as World Champions. Health Science Center employees are no exception. In fact, last week the spirited psychiatry department drew the attention of local television station News 4 WOAI.

“Every year we decorate the entire office with our Spurs décor,” said Gloria Hoffman of the psychiatry department. “This year, WOAI is featuring us in Race for the Rings, which will air Wednesday evening.”

Hoffman said the half-hour special, to take place before Wednesday’s game, will recognize Spurs fans all around San Antonio, cheering for the team and hoping to stay in the series. Interviews with coaches and players will also be featured throughout the show.

Still, after last night’s loss in overtime against the Dallas Mavericks, fans aren’t losing faith in the three-time champs.

Hoffman said she has worked in psychiatry for eight years and that it has become a tradition to decorate the office each year to show the office’s Spurs spirit.

“I’ve noticed that there are a lot more women Spurs fans than would be expected,” Hoffman said. “We don’t hold back in our department; we have faith in the team.”

Spurs will take on the Mavericks Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Fans are keeping in mind that two of the next three games will be played in San Antonio, giving the Spurs the home-court advantage.
