Now that kids are out of school, UT Police, together with the office of student life, is providing the perfect opportunity for the children of faculty, staff and students to show off their bike-riding skills. The annual bike rodeo will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, June 9, and will help children learn more about the importance of bike-riding safety.

University police bike patrol officers will teach children proper bicycle safety rules, give bike inspection pointers, describe equipment needed to ride a bike safely (such as helmets) and demonstrate techniques for maneuvering a bike on the road. A bike obstacle course with curves, straightaway, and lines and cones will be set up for the bike riders.

Bike inspections and registration will be held in the courtyard near the Dental and Nursing School buildings. The bike rodeo course will be in lot 11 and lunch will be provided by the office of student life for the rodeo participants. For more information about this event, contact Cpl. Karen Tucker: tuckerk@uthscsa.edu or (210) 562-9095.
