Condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Paul Cutler, who died recently at age 86.

Dr. Cutler, a retired faculty member, taught the first courses in clinical medicine at the Health Science Center’s Medical School. His students recognized him as one who exemplified and provided a model of excellence in the practice of clinical medicine.

Dr. Cutler is survived by his second wife, Janie. He had two children who preceded him in death.

The Paul Cutler Award was established several years ago by the School of Medicine Alumni Association and is awarded to a graduating student who best demonstrates the qualities of clinical excellence achieved through the blend of both art and the science of medicine.

The award, in Dr. Cutler’s honor, is for $1,000.

If you would like to make a gift in memory of Dr. Cutler, you can contribute to the special Paul Cutler Award. For more information, e-mail James Guevara in the office of external affairs: guevaraj@uthscsa.edu.
