Looking for gently used office furniture? How about an extra printer or typewriter? These items and numerous others are now available through the Health Science Center’s traditional auction of obsolete/surplus equipment. But this year, the items are right at your desktop.
“This year, we’re doing the auction online,” said Kenneth Olkowski, warehouse supervisor in general services. “It is the best way for us to maximize the audience, and it’s easy for people to shop from their computer.”
The auction is held one to two times per year to clear equipment when levels become too high. Visit
www.shattuck.com to participate in the auction. The Web site is headed by the same auctioneer who led the traditional auction in previous years. It is open to the public and ends July 27.
“It’s just like EBay. You register, get a bid name and password, and remain anonymous,” Olkowski said.
Olkowski said the Web site is completely secure and an auctioneer will contact the winners when the auction is over.
Proceeds go to the Health Science Center’s general fund.
