Faculty, staff encouraged to attend lectern orientationNew faculty and staff are invited to attend “Orientation to Multimedia Lecterns.” Steele Camp, director of teaching support services, will demonstrate how to use the multimedia consoles available in all lecture halls. The consoles feature DVD and VHS functions, console computers, Internet connections and laptop displays. This equipment has created a consistent, multimedia environment that is reliable, easy to use, and provides a creative learning environment.
Depending on the availability of a lecture hall, personal sessions will be available to those who are unable to attend the following sessions. For more information, call (210) 567-2244.

Researchers invited to special seminar to be held Sept. 7Join colleagues for a unique seminar regarding Real time Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, in Rooms 108 and 110 of the Academic and Administration building.
Real time PCR is a powerful tool for gene expression analysis, genotyping and pathogen identification.
Charles Hardwick, Ph.D., of Roche Applied Science, will present “Redesigning Real Time PCR: From the Ground Up” to Health Science Center researchers.
The seminar will address critical parameters that influence the validity of real time PCR experiments, including assay design, reproducibility and sensitivity for detection.
Refreshments will be provided.
