Family and friends of Barbara L. Lust, R.N., Ph.D., retired colonel in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, will remember her as a dedicated educator, a professional nurse and an exemplary military officer. Dr. Lust died Aug. 28 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dr. Lust joined the Health Science Center’s School of Nursing in 1978, and retired in 2000 as an associate professor and associate dean for undergraduate programs.

She also ably served in the United States Army Reserve, where she reached the rank of colonel, and then retired in 1992 as the chief nurse of the 94th General Hospital in San Antonio.

Dr. Lust will be missed by all.
