The Faculty Senate was pleased to hold its first meeting of the academic year last week, welcoming the new chair of the senate, Deborah Baruch-Bienen, M.D., F.A.C.P., associate professor of medicine, and honoring Jan Patterson, M.D., with the Faculty Senate Leadership Award.
The award is given annually to an exceptional faculty member who is nominated and selected by the Faculty Senate.
“Dr. Patterson is an outstanding member of our faculty and a fantastic role model,” Dr. Baruch-Bienen said. “She is a team leader and highly deserving of this award.”
Dr. Patterson joined the Health Science Center in 1993. She is professor of medicine and was recently named interim chair of the department of medicine.
“To receive this award is a true honor to me,” she said. “And what makes it so special is that I was selected by my peers.”
Congratulations to Dr. Patterson.
