Each year, more than 180,000 new cases of seizures and epilepsy are diagnosed, and approximately 2.7 million Americans are currently living with epilepsy. But thanks to a joint effort between the Health Science Center and the Epilepsy Foundation, there is hope for those who suffer from the disease.
The Health Science Center and the Epilepsy Foundation of Central and South Texas are sponsoring the 2006 Epilepsy Diagnosis and Epilepsy Conference from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Health Science Center. The daylong conference is designed to provide opportunities for physicians, nurses and those affected by epilepsy to receive current information about epilepsy and seizures, medical treatment therapies and daily issues associated with the disease.
The conference meets the needs of everyone affected by epilepsy in Central and South Texas. Physicians, nurses, teachers, social workers, counselors, individuals with epilepsy and family members of those with epilepsy will all benefit from the event.
