Stanley I. Fisch, M.D., F.A.A.P., clinical professor of pediatrics at the Health Science Center’s Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen (RAHC), received the Job Lewis Smith Award at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition in Atlanta, Oct. 7-10.
The annual award recognizes outstanding service in community pediatrics and is named for Dr. Job Lewis Smith, one of the founders of the American Pediatric Society.
Dr. Fisch’s ultimate goal has been to maintain a strong relationship with the teaching program at the Health Science Center. He developed a community rotation for medical students and is currently working toward developing a primary care pediatric residency. He also has continued the national effort for community rotations in community pediatric residency.
For several years, Dr. Fisch has been a part of every aspect of child advocacy and medical education in the Valley. As the founding member of Harlingen Pediatrics Associates in 1982, his proudest achievement is bringing quality pediatric care to the South Texas region.
