UT Medicine San Antonio, the multispecialty practice group of Health Science Center faculty physicians, is taking on a project of truly epic proportions.
EPIC is the new electronic medical record software for the ambulatory clinics of UT Medicine San Antonio. The practice group is converting to EPIC over the next months and has appointed a team to lead the transition.
An EPIC Care Ambulatory Electronic Medical Record kickoff event is set for Wednesday, Dec. 6, in classrooms 114 and 116 of the Academic and Administration Building, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive. UT Medicine San Antonio urges all faculty and clinical staff to place this important event on their calendars.
Ninety-minute EPIC demonstrations will start at 7 a.m., noon and 4 p.m. in classroom 114. In addition, an open forum will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in classroom 116. An EPIC team member will be in 116 throughout the day to answer questions and do mini-demonstrations of EPIC.
Questions may be directed to Chris Joseph, EPIC chief transformation officer, at 257-1876, or Sylvia Pomales-Starrett at 257-1428, starrett@uthscsa.edu.
William L. Henrich, M.D., M.A.C.P. dean of the School of Medicine and vice president for medical affairs, spoke of the importance of the EPIC conversion at a recent Town Hall Meeting. He said the new electronic medical record is not an elective step and will greatly improve the efficiencies of UT Medicine San Antonio.
