October was an exciting month for three Health Science Center employees who were recognized as some of the most outstanding employees on campus. Facilities management was pleased to recognize two individuals whose exceptional work earned them the Employee of the Quarter Award. Juan Contreras Jr., building attendant II and Joe Lara Jr., maintenance worker, were the recipients of the award.
Colleagues say Contreras is a highly qualified individual who possesses excellent custodial skills. He has demonstrated outstanding attendance and has served in a vital role in the absence of the building attendant. An excellent team player, he is certainly worthy of this recognition.
Lara has single-handedly taken over the lighting maintenance program for the entire campus. Since taking over these duties, his performance has been outstanding. His colleagues say he is prompt, efficient, reliable and always willing to go the extra mile. His selection as an Employee of the Quarter is richly deserved.
