Avant elected to SNRS nominating committee Kay Avant, R.N., Ph.D., F.A.A.N., was recently elected to the nominating committee of the Southern Nursing Research Society. Her appointment also places her on the society’s board of directors. Dr. Avant is chair of the Health Science Center’s department of family nursing care.
Girard produces novel publication Nancy J. Girard, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., recently led an effort to produce the 2007 OR Product Directory for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). The product directory is targeted to nurses, hospitals and industry.
Dr. Girard, who is associate professor and chairman of the department of acute nursing care, also is editor-in-chief of the AORN Journal, the official publication of the organization. “This new publication has the potential to make a major contribution to the field of surgical care and represents a significant amount of work,” said Robin D. Froman, R.N., Ph.D., F.A.A.N., dean of the School of Nursing.
