The department of surgery recently named Souraya “Sou Sou” Sarkis the employee of the month.
Sarkis has been an administrative secretary in the division of vascular surgery for two and a half years. She previously was a senior clerk in the vascular lab at Audie Murphy Division, South Texas Veterans Health Care System, and senior secretary in the vascular division office.
Sarkis was recognized for her willingness to tackle all projects with enthusiasm and professionalism. Some of the projects she has handled include updating the vascular division’s Grand Rounds participant list, creating Excel spreadsheets for vascular clinic data, coordinating the management of vascular division records and assisting with scheduling patients in the VA operating room.
In December, Sarkis received a certificate acknowledging her selection as Employee of the Month, plus a $100 gift card. She is now eligible for the Employee of the Year recognition.
