The department of surgery honors its Employee of the Month, Mary Bogardus, and the department of purchasing honors its Employee of the Quarter, Esther Michael.
Department of surgery honors Mary Bogardus Mary Bogardus, administrative secretary with the Health Science Center’s South Texas Poison Center, is the department of surgery’s Employee of the Month for January.
Bogardus, who has been with the poison center for two years, is known for her diligence and excellent performance of her duties. “Mary demonstrates an abundance of knowledge and skills of the procedures and activities of her position. She always has a positive attitude and disposition,” said Carmen Jimenez, a co-worker who nominated her.
“She is always on time even though she has to take three buses to come to work every day,” added Darelle Hinson, another co-worker. “She is always willing to bake cakes and bring goodies for special occasions, like her co-workers’ birthdays, to make all of us feel very special.”
“Her main goal in life it to put her only grandson, Marcus, through college. She’s working hard and saving to the last penny because she wants him to accomplish his dream of becoming a veterinarian and a basketball star,” Jimenez added.
Bogardus received a certificate and $100 gift card. She is now eligible to become the department of surgery Employee of the Year.
Purchasing department selects Employee of the Quarter The purchasing department’s Employee of the Quarter for October through December 2006 is Senior Buyer Esther Michael. Michael was selected by her peers based on her excellent customer service, contributions to the office, effective teamwork, and professional and personal development.
Michael has worked for the Health Science Center for approximately 11 years. Her picture is displayed in the purchasing office for the first quarter of 2007 and her name will be added to the Employee of the Quarter plaque displayed in the purchasing office.
