March of Dimes to hold photo exhibit April 2-3The Health Science Center March of Dimes 2007 Campaign is holding a photography exhibit April 2 and 3 in the School of Medicine on the third floor, near the Burser’s office, to raise awareness about the problem of premature birth.
The organization also is holding a candy sale featuring World’s Finest Chocolate on campus through June 1, and a health walk on May 2 to raise money for the organization.
Some of the photos in the exhibit were taken by Victoria Leland, a neonatal nurse working at Medical Center of Plano. Depicted in her photos are real Texas families during the days and months after experiencing a premature birth.
The San Antonio Chapter of the March of Dimes provides programs for mothers and children, including prenatal health promotion services, a prenatal education program geared toward Hispanic women and a baby clothing donation service. Nationally, the March of Dimes supports basic science research and clinical prevention programs promoting the birth of healthy babies.
